The Sugarhouse
Mapleland Farms Sugarhouse, located on Bunker Hill Road in
the southeast corner of Argyle, NY has been in the business of
making
maple syrup and
maple products
since 1972. In addition to the maple syrup business, brothers
David & Terry Campbell also own and operate a 300 acre farm that has been in the family for over 150 years. In
the 1,000 sq ft. sugarhouse stands a 5'x 14' oil-fired
evaporator that is equipped with a vaporizing hood. The addition
of a reverse osmosis machine in 2003 has increased the system's
output to 20 gallons of syrup per hour at full capacity.
Mapleland Farms currently averages 8,500 taps per season.
Although not as picturesque as the old-fashioned method of
bucket collection, they rely on a maze of plastic tubing and
collection tanks to capture the sweet sap of the sugar maple.
This enables the farm to tap more trees and gather sap from
remote sugar bushes more quickly. Mapleland Farms also produces
a variety of products such as
maple cream,
maple fudge, maple peanut
brittle and maple roasted nuts. Gift baskets are available in
any combination you desire, and can be shipped anywhere.
